CYCLAMEN is a silk wallhanging that combines multi‐scaled images of Cyclamen using macro photography and images from a Scanning Electron Microscope.
Cyclamen are members of the Primulaceae (primrose) family native from Europe to Iran and Northeast Somalia. The leaves are heart-shaped and dark green with silver variegations. The flowers have five lobes fused at the base with flexed and often twisting petals forming a nodding tube-like structure. Flower colors may be white, light pink, red, magenta or lavender. Cyclamen flowers have a protandrous breeding system which discourages self-pollination, with the the anthers maturing and releasing pollen before the stigma is receptive. Pollinators are typically bees. $1250 72h x 32w
